Acer made waves at IFA 2024 in Berlin by unveiling five new gaming monitors, including the Nitro XV240 F6—a groundbreaking model boasting a 600Hz refresh rate. This makes it the fastest gaming monitor on the market, eclipsing the previous 540Hz standard and pushing the limits of high-performance gaming.
The Nitro lineup now includes three new models: the Nitro XV240 F6, Nitro XV270 F5, and Nitro XV270U F5. The standout model, the Nitro XV240 F6, features a 24-inch TN panel with Full HD resolution (1920 × 1080 pixels) and a 600Hz refresh rate, making it ideal for competitive gamers. With a brightness of 400 cd/m², it promises smooth visuals, though the full 600Hz is only achievable via DisplayPort. HDMI users will max out at 240Hz.
Acer’s choice to use a TN panel is notable, as the technology has become less common in the gaming world, where IPS, VA, and OLED panels now dominate. However, the TN panel’s exceptional speed has helped Acer break records with this model.
The Nitro XV270 F5, slightly larger with a 27-inch screen, also impresses with its 520Hz refresh rate and IPS panel, offering a better balance between speed and color accuracy. This model supports Full HD resolution and 400 cd/m² brightness, with the 520Hz refresh rate available via both DisplayPort and HDMI.
Completing the trio, the Nitro XV270U F5 features a 27-inch IPS display with WQHD resolution (2560 × 1440 pixels) and a refresh rate of 500Hz. It’s positioned as a more versatile option for gamers who prefer higher resolution, albeit with a slightly lower refresh rate. The brightness here dips to 250 cd/m², and both DisplayPort and HDMI support the 500Hz refresh rate.
All Nitro monitors come equipped with AMD FreeSync Premium technology, ensuring a tear-free gaming experience even at ultra-high speeds.
Predator Series Expands with High-Performance Monitors
Acer also expanded its Predator lineup with two new models: the Predator XB273U F5 and Predator XB273K V5. The XB273U F5 is equipped with a 27-inch WQHD IPS panel, boasting a 360Hz refresh rate. With 90% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space and a peak brightness of 550 cd/m², this monitor is designed for gamers who prioritize both speed and color accuracy. It also features Nvidia’s G-Sync Pulsar technology, which combines Overdrive and Pulse Modulation to enhance motion clarity and reduce blur.
The Predator XB273K V5 targets gamers who want 4K visuals without sacrificing speed. With a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels and a refresh rate of 160Hz, this monitor offers the best of both worlds. It supports AMD FreeSync Premium and covers 95% of the DCI-P3 color space, with a brightness of 400 cd/m². The XB273K V5 is priced at $499 and will be available in the U.S. later this year.
Acer’s New Gaming Beast: Predator Orion 7000
In addition to its impressive monitor lineup, Acer also unveiled the Predator Orion 7000, a next-gen gaming PC equipped with Intel’s upcoming processors, likely from the Arrow Lake-S family. The system comes with the Predator CycloneX 360 LSS cooling solution, up to 128GB of DDR5-6000 RAM, and storage options including a 4TB HDD and up to 6TB of NVMe SSD. With Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4090 GPU onboard, this PC promises unparalleled performance for gamers and content creators alike. Ports include USB 3.2 and Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C), but Acer has yet to reveal pricing or availability for the Predator Orion 7000.
Pricing and Availability
While Acer hasn’t disclosed the price of the Predator XB273U F5, the Nitro XV240 F6, Nitro XV270 F5, and Nitro XV270U F5 will retail for $599, $799, and $599, respectively. These models are expected to hit the U.S. and European markets in the first quarter of next year, with availability in China slated for later this year.
With these launches, Acer is solidifying its position in the gaming hardware industry, offering a range of cutting-edge displays that cater to both casual and competitive gamers, while also laying the groundwork for future advancements in gaming performance.
