In the ever-evolving world of tech accessories, Apple is reportedly gearing up to unveil a new, budget-friendly version of its Magic Keyboard. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this latest iteration will cater to users of the basic iPad and the new iPad Air, offering a more accessible option without compromising on essential functionality.

Unlike the premium Magic Keyboard launched earlier this year with the iPad Pro, the new low-cost model will forgo the aluminum wrist rest that elevates the higher-end version. Instead, it will feature a design more akin to the earlier Magic Keyboard iterations, which were crafted from a simpler material but still delivered robust performance.
This new keyboard is set to replace the Magic Keyboard Folio, introduced in 2022 alongside the iPad 10, and the Magic Keyboard for iPad Air, which made its debut in 2020. One of the key upgrades will be the addition of several function keys, a notable enhancement over the existing Magic Keyboard for iPad Air, which lacked this feature.
Anticipation is building as Gurman suggests that this new accessory could hit the market in mid-2025. Should these predictions prove accurate, Apple’s iPad keyboard lineup will see a significant simplification. This move follows Apple’s previous decision to phase out the old Smart Keyboards, marking a shift towards a more streamlined and cost-effective accessory range for its tablets.
