In a bittersweet announcement, Creepy Jar, the Polish studio behind the acclaimed survival simulator Green Hell, has revealed that active support for the game will soon come to an end. The studio will drop the final content update, dubbed “Decorations,” next week before turning their attention to their next ambitious project, StarRupture.
This last hurrah for Green Hell will introduce a range of new customization options for players’ in-game huts, including decorative elements such as paintings, torch holders, and workbench adornments. Scheduled to launch on September 3rd, the update will first hit Steam, followed by releases on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. Beyond this update, the team will only provide essential technical patches to ensure the game continues to run smoothly.
The Decorations update coincides with the fifth anniversary of Green Hell, which officially left Steam Early Access on September 5, 2019. Over the years, the game has seen 20 substantial content updates and over a hundred patches, enriching the survival experience for its over 6 million players. In celebration of the milestone, all Green Hell owners have been gifted an Anniversary Pack featuring an artbook, soundtrack, and digital bonuses.
Meanwhile, Creepy Jar is gearing up to unveil their next major endeavor, StarRupture. The recently released gameplay trailer offers a glimpse into a futuristic world where humanity has ventured into space in search of valuable resources. Players will take on the role of an exiled prisoner on a distant planet in the Ruptura star system, tasked with extracting minerals, expanding industrial operations, and exploring new technologies. The gameplay trailer showcases intense combat scenarios, hostile alien raids, and dramatic planetary destruction sequences.
Unlike Green Hell, which focused on survival in the Amazon rainforest, StarRupture promises to deliver a more intense, action-packed experience. The game will feature both solo and co-op modes with up to four players, emphasizing base defense and survival in the harsh environment of an exotic alien planet. Fans of Creepy Jar’s work are eagerly anticipating StarRupture, which has already been praised as a significant evolution from the studio’s previous work.
With Green Hell’s journey coming to a close and StarRupture on the horizon, Creepy Jar is poised to redefine their legacy with a bold new chapter in gaming.
