Gigabyte has expanded its lineup with the introduction of the X870 AORUS Elite WIFI7 motherboard, a robust addition designed to support the latest Ryzen 9000 series processors. This model, following the previously announced X870E AORUS Master, is the second motherboard featuring AMD’s new X870 chipset, and it’s also compatible with previous-generation Socket AM5 processors.

The X870 chipset offers a more accessible entry point into high-performance computing, sharing many features with the AMD B650E but now enhanced with USB4 support. The motherboard is built on a 6-layer ATX form factor PCB, ensuring stability and durability. Power delivery is managed through a 24-pin ATX connector, complemented by two 8-pin EPS connectors, feeding into a robust 16+2+2-phase power subsystem. The vCore benefits from an 8-phase design with phase doubling, ensuring reliable power to the CPU.

Memory support is equally impressive, with four DDR5 slots capable of handling up to 256 GB of RAM, making it ideal for demanding tasks and multitasking.

The X870 AORUS Elite WIFI7 also comes equipped with a variety of expansion slots, including PCI-Express 5.0 x16, PCI-Express 4.0 x16, and PCI-Express 3.0 x16. For storage, users have access to three M.2 5.0 x4 slots—two of which are dedicated to NVMe drives—and a fourth M.2 slot with PCIe 4.0 x4 connectivity. All M.2 slots come with heatsinks to ensure optimal thermal performance. Additionally, four SATA 6Gb/s ports are available for traditional storage solutions.

Networking is a standout feature, with the inclusion of a Wi-Fi 7 card that supports Bluetooth 5.4. Depending on the board version, the Wi-Fi 7 card may feature either the MediaTek MT7925 or Realtek RTL8922AE chipsets. Wired networking is handled by a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port via a Realtek controller.

For connectivity, the motherboard offers a rich selection of USB ports, including two USB4 ports with 40 Gbps speed and DisplayPort support, alongside multiple USB 3.2 Gen 2 and Gen 1 ports. Audio is powered by the Realtek ALC1220 codec, providing high-quality sound with 120 dB SNR, ground layer insulation, and support for high-impedance headphones.

Building with the X870 AORUS Elite WIFI7 is made easier with a range of thoughtful features, including a POST code indicator, diagnostic LEDs, power and reset buttons, USB BIOS Flashback, and tool-less M.2 SSD installation. Additionally, the board supports RGB lighting with three addressable RGB 2.0 connectors, allowing for personalized aesthetics.

While pricing details have not yet been revealed, the Gigabyte X870 AORUS Elite WIFI7 is poised to be a compelling choice for enthusiasts looking to harness the power of the Ryzen 9000 series with cutting-edge features.
