At PAX West 2024, Bokeh Game Studio has finally given fans a full taste of what’s to come with their highly anticipated action-adventure horror title, Slitterhead. Led by the visionary Keiichiro Toyama, the mastermind behind Silent Hill, Siren, and Gravity Rush, the studio has previously teased fragments of the game, but this marks the first time they’ve showcased a complete gameplay demo.
Set in the neon-drenched, bustling metropolis of Kulun, Slitterhead plunges players into a world overrun by monstrous entities that disguise themselves as humans. Players will assume the role of Hioki, an amnesiac entity who can inhabit various human hosts to combat these nightmarish creatures. Hioki’s unique ability allows him to harness the life force of his hosts, using their blood as a potent weapon against the horrors lurking in the city.
The 24-minute demo at PAX West offered a comprehensive look at the game’s features. It highlighted the story’s premise, including Hioki’s quest to recover his lost memories, and showcased the ability to switch between different characters. The gameplay demo also revealed an intriguing combat system, featuring both parries and brutal confrontations with grotesque, human-disguised monsters.
Fans can expect Slitterhead to hit PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and S on November 8. The game promises fast-paced, thrilling battles, a gripping narrative, and deep dives into Hioki’s mysterious past and the origins of the monstrous threats. However, there has been no confirmation regarding support for the Russian language at this time.
