TCL made a splash at IFA 2024 in Berlin with the reveal of its latest tablet offerings—the 14.3-inch NxtPaper 14 and the 11-inch TCL Tab 11 Gen 2—alongside two new 5G smartphones. The lineup showcased TCL’s ongoing commitment to combining innovation with affordability, offering advanced features like blue light reduction technology, high-resolution displays, and large battery capacities.
TCL Tab 11 Gen 2: A Power-Packed Upgrade
The TCL Tab 11 Gen 2 builds on the success of last year’s model, delivering notable improvements. This refreshed version comes equipped with an 11-inch NxtVision LCD screen, boasting a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels, a 60 Hz refresh rate, and 400 nits of brightness. With a 16:10 aspect ratio and slim 7 mm bezels, the display achieves an impressive 85% screen-to-body ratio, providing users with a more immersive viewing experience.
Under the hood, the Tab 11 Gen 2 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G80 processor, paired with 6 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded by an additional 1 TB using a microSD card. The 8000 mAh battery supports 18W fast charging, ensuring users can stay connected for longer periods without constantly needing to recharge.
On the camera front, the device features a 5 MP front-facing camera for video calls and an 8 MP rear camera. Additional features include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5, as well as a GPS receiver. The Tab 11 Gen 2 also supports face unlock, providing a convenient and secure way to access the device. Priced at €199, it offers strong performance at an affordable price point.
NxtPaper 14: Eye-Care and Productivity Combined
The highlight of TCL’s presentation was the NxtPaper 14, a tablet that features a massive 14.3-inch display and introduces NxtPaper 3.0 technology. This cutting-edge display innovation reduces the blue light intensity by 61%, a feature aimed at reducing eye strain without compromising on image clarity or color vibrancy.
The tablet’s 2400 x 1600 pixel resolution, 400 nits brightness, and 60 Hz refresh rate ensure crisp visuals. Additionally, the NxtPaper 14 supports stylus input through the TCL T-Pen, making it a versatile tool for both productivity and creativity. Users can easily switch between Regular, Color Paper, and Ink Paper modes with a physical button, tailoring the display to their needs.
The tablet is powered by a 6nm MediaTek Helio G99 octa-core processor, supported by 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. Camera-wise, the NxtPaper 14 features an 8 MP rear camera and a dual front camera setup (5 MP and 13 MP), which can also be used for facial recognition, as the device does not have a fingerprint scanner. Running on Android 14, this tablet is designed for both work and entertainment. Priced at €399, the NxtPaper 14 will be available soon, with the official release date yet to be announced.
A Step Forward in Tech Accessibility
TCL’s latest products demonstrate the company’s commitment to making advanced technology accessible to a wider audience. With features like blue light reduction, large displays, and expandable storage, the NxtPaper 14 and Tab 11 Gen 2 cater to both casual and professional users. As TCL continues to evolve its product lineup, consumers can expect more innovation that balances functionality and price.
As the IFA 2024 showcase wraps up, it’s clear that TCL is positioning itself as a strong competitor in the tablet market, offering devices that stand out for their thoughtful design and impressive specifications at a reasonable cost.
